PAID TIME OFF

PTO Procedures

The purpose of Paid Time Off (PTO) is to provide team members with flexible paid time off from work that can be used for such needs as vacation, personal or family illness, doctor appointments, school, and other activities of the team member choice.

·         New-hire team members begin earning PTO immediately, however, a team member must be employed a minimum of 90 days before PTO may be used.

·         Each full-time, hourly team member will accrue PTO in hourly increments based on their length of service as defined above. PTO is added to the team member's PTO bank when the weekly paycheck is issued. PTO taken will be subtracted from the team member's accrued time bank in one-hour increments. Part-time team members, temporary team members, contract team members, and interns are not eligible to accrue PTO.

·         PTO is a “use it or lose it” policy. We encourage you to use it! Research shows that taking time away from the job can have physical and psychological health benefits. People who take vacations have lower stress, less risk of heart disease, a better outlook on life, and more motivation to achieve goals. In the event that accrued PTO is not used by the end of the benefit year, team members may not carry unused time forward to the next benefit year.

·         Team Members may not receive pay advances through collected PTO. 

·         Upon termination of employment, voluntary or involuntary, team member will not be compensated for any remaining PTO accrued to date. Any remaining PTO not used by the team member before end of employment will be lost. Milestone does not compensate terminated team members for paid vacation time (PTO).

 

 

 

 

In most cases, requesting and taking time away from work will result in the automatic use of your PTO. This is decided by a service manager during that pay period. Under normal circumstances we will not approve time away from work if you have already consumed all of your PTO days for the year.

You may use the “Day Off Request” form in the Milestone APP to request days off, however there are a few rules for using it:

-          We require at least 5-7 days advanced notice of your request to take time off.

-          Submitting a request does not guarantee that you’ll be able take that time off.

-          The request MUST be approved by a manager.

-          ASSUME NOTHING… if you have not received a reply to your request, contact one of the mangers.

 

SICK DAYS
If you’re calling in because you are sick or unable to come to work, you are required to actually CALL in and talk to a service manager. Emails/Text Messages or any other indirect form of communication other than calling in and speaking with a service manager is unacceptable. PTO will automatically be used for sick days, but Technicians can appeal to their service managers if they do not wish to use their PTO at that time.

EMERGENCIES
We understand emergencies, and above all things we want you to take care of your family, we simply ask that you communicate with us directly and ASAP about whatever issues you might have so we can plan around them or help you if we can! PTO will automatically be used for emergencies, but Technicians can appeal to their service managers if they do not wish to use their PTO at that time.
